Vanarai was formed by Dr. Mohan Dharia in the year 1982 and after securing success it was registered under the Charitable Trust Act in 1986. During last 25 years Vanarai has reached all parts of Maharashtra and other states of India. Vanarai is now recognised as one of the major Voluntary Organisations both at the state and national level. The organization has been instrumental in changing Government policies for development through people's involvement.

Vanarai is working in more than 250 villages with the objective of making them self reliant. We insists on clean, green and self reliant villages, Afforestation, Agriculture with Modern Methods, Animal Husbandry, Latrine and Gobar-Gas as for every house, Eradication of Illiteracy, Family Planning and Creating Local Employment Opportunities with the involvement of people. Vanarai has now become a peoples' movement.
